Make Connections with People, Not Their Pocketbooks

There is a temptation when in need of funding to look for somewhere, anywhere to get the cash and get on your way. Not every day, but on those hard days, it sounds like a good idea.

Obviously, that's missing the best part of fundraising. Creating a team of people who believe in the mission, your vision for impacting this world, and are willing to sacrifice to be a part of it is the great joy that lives in fundraising.

Wishing your way out of the work of finding people to partner with you financially won't get the work done, and it won't make it any easier. Keep pushing, be faithful in the hard parts of this phase, knowing it's growing you and your vision for reaching those in need of the gospel. 

It's highly likely that the funding, someone else's pocketbook isn't actually what's standing in your way. God is looking to teach you things you will need and use when He takes you to the field. Are you ready to learn those things? Are you appreciating the way He's keeping you exactly where you should be until it's time for you to become His hands and feet to a new group of people?

Continue making connections with people, ask them to become financial partners in the ministry, let them give, and then continue that relationship for years to come, knowing that you all are in this together.
