The Solution to Continuing Communication

The solution to having no communication over the last 10 years is not to continue not talking. Seem obvious? of course. But have you had the thought, "I haven't talked to them in so long, I couldn't possibly talk to them now..."? Don't do that. Instead, reach out and begin communication again, ask them about their life, tell them about your life, ask if they're interested to hear more about the amazing ministry you've been called to serve.

Hoping you think of communication day to day won't get this done. Make a plan and stick to it!

To accomplish this in your busy life on a more regular basis, create an amount of time (an hour) and accomplish as much as possible in that time slot. Sometimes that time equals one email, sometimes it's 5 postcards; either way, it may be more than you're doing now. This time-slot idea allows you to begin the discipline of staying connected with people. If you continue this method, you'll be able to cycle through a personal touch with a long list of partners every few months.

During your time-slot, do a little bit every single week so you won't be overwhelmed when it comes time to do more once a month. Make a note of something to share in your newsletter when it comes to mind, save a picture in a special folder, or address the thank you note so you can write it later. Hoping you think of it day to day won't get this done. Make a plan and stick to it!
