APRIL: Update Your Message ✨ (Monthly Fundraising Checklist)

You may have noticed some significant changes in your ministry since you first began. These changes make it necessary for you to adapt your messaging to align with the present needs and a new vision. By doing this, you allow your financial partners to better relate to and support the work God is doing!

To make it easier for you to update your messaging, consider asking yourself a few simple questions. Your answers will give you a foundation to create a powerful message that people will want to hear!

✔️ What is your mission?

    • What is your organization’s mission statement?

    • How does your mission tie in with the over mission of your organization?

    • What is your ministry all about?

✔️ What need or challenge is your ministry addressing?

    • What are the struggles and challenges of the people in your area of service?

    • Can you share a story about a specific individual or family who illustrates these struggles?

    • What would happen to these people if you didn’t take action?

    • Is there any imagery or metaphor you can use to create a visual?

✔️ What is your vision?

    • What transformation do you want to see in the area you serve?

    • What would you like to see God do through your ministry in the next 12 months?

✔️ What is your strategy?

    • What specific goals do you have for the next 12 months?

    • How will you reach your goals? What steps will you take?

    • How will your strategy meet the specific needs and challenges you described earlier?

✔️ What stories do I want to share?

    • Calling Story – How did God call you to this ministry?

    • Need Story – Why is this ministry important?

    • Impact Story – How is God working in both big and small ways?

✔️ What makes a good story?

    • Focus on a specific incident. Include the who, when, and where in the first sentence.

    • Share the details. Create bullet points of things you don’t want to forget.

    • Create and memorize a powerful ending line. This is so you can land the plane anytime you want to.

    • Keep it to 2 minutes. We find this is often the right length.
