Fundraising is Offering People a Chance to Give

One of the keys to becoming a missionary who is fully funded is understanding that others have a need to give. This is foundational to a healthy understanding of financial partnership.

One client noted, “We have an obligation to the people in our network.  They need to be challenged more than we need to be funded. We want to give all of them (400+ people) the opportunity to give. We need to get through our list for our sake and for theirs.”

The need of the giver is greater than the needs of the receiver, it's what we see over and over in scripture.

Acts 20:35 "...remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'it is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

Hebrews 13:6 "Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God."

God says people need to give. And that giving is for the good of the giver! Remember, you're making connections with people, not their pocketbooks. You want to clearly ask people to give with passion, knowing it will be an incredible opportunity to join the ministry team and impact people in this world alongside you.

The people in your network will not have a better opportunity to give than when you ask. And most people need to be asked. People need to give, and you can give them that opportunity.
