Why You Should Gather All the Contact Information in the Beginning

One of the first actions you'll take as you begin fundraising is to create a list of contacts. As you write down names, it's important to also compile all the contact info you have for each person in one place.

The important task of gathering contact information is something you can do long before you begin the work of fundraising or even work with a coach. Each piece of information (home address, phone number, email address) is remarkably important in the fundraising process. Primarily because it allows you to make a personal connection in multiple ways, making it easier to get a response and communicate in a way that's best for your potential partner.

You may want to email a new contact in order to send a touch of thanks or clarification. You may want to send a handwritten thank you note, which you can't do without that person's mailing address. One day real soon, you'll want to call someone to schedule a meeting and having their phone number will be critical to following up.

At Tailored, our coaches have a number of tools to help you keep all your contact information organized. Clients have expressed how these tools have relieved anxiety for them because it allows you to communicate so clearly.
