How to Work a Plan for Major Giving
Working with a very compelling nonprofit that provides counseling for children orphaned by war, this Chief Development Officer obviously has many reasons to be continually fundraising. His organization continues to raise more money than the year before, but the major gifts that come in don't seem to be predictable. This can be a problem when planning projects which help the children that need counseling and other services the most.
After spending several weeks with this CDO, I began to realize that he wasn't making an intentional, clear ask to individual major donors. This was so surprising to me that I asked him to download our e-book and to make a small, measurable plan for his upcoming trip to visit major donors in Dallas.
WHEN YOU'RE INTENTIONAL WITH YOUR DONORS AND WORKING A PLAN, MAJOR GIFTS DON'T HAVE TO BE "RANDOM" OR "ONE-OFF". THEY CAN BE RELIED UPON AND SUSTAINABLE.
Now, I'm excited for what's to come and the ways this organization will be able to grow with sustainable funding year after year.
