Three Factors in Getting People to Show Up
Recently, we've been developing a virtual fundraising event for a client. It's an exciting opportunity for a network of pastors that's geographically widespread, but well connected, to this particular ministry.
Together, we've come to the conclusion that the most crucial part of executing this event is simply getting people to show up. We feel very strongly that all the attendees will give something, if not something generous.
SO, HOW DO WE GET THEM THERE?
We've already been calling each invitee personally. But what really, really gets a person to show up? Well, there's a few factors.
First, they could come simply because your relationship with them is so developed that you're using something we might call "relationship capital".
Second, you might describe the problem you are solving as a ministry. And it may be so powerful that no one can turn you down.
Third, and this is the option we're leaning on, is offering the invitee to be part of a select group, a favored strategic group. We're inviting them to something exclusive. What we're really communicating is -- "you're being invited to be a part of a small group of people that will do something incredible."
And who wouldn't want that?!
